Losing weight with protein shakes

People are always curious about new ways to (quickly) lose weight. From juice cleanses to crash diets, there's always a new popular diet promising great results in a short amount of time. Many people also wonder if protein shakes are a good way to lose weight. They certainly can be! At least, if you use them responsibly.

About weight loss

Losing weight is about creating a negative energy balance, where your body consumes fewer calories than you take in daily. You can achieve this by eating and drinking healthier (fewer calories) or exercising more (burning more calories). Or even better: a combination of both!

Protein and weight loss

If you consume the same amount of calories at the end of the day as your body needs, you won't lose weight. Adding a protein shake will therefore not magically make you burn more fat. But a protein shake can help you maintain your muscles while losing weight. We'll tell you more about this below.
